One of a number of comics whose primary intent was to quote a poem/book I liked.

I used the Wikipedia random article button to generate comic ideas fairly often when stuck—to come up with topics. This is a lazier version of that principle.

The Eye of Argon is available here, and it is incredible:
Seriously, go read it now.
We have a tradition now of reading this story every New Years Eve with friends. The traditional way of reading this is making a kind of game out of it wherein on person reads until they laugh.
People who make it more than a few paragraphs are very skilled and people making it more than a page or so are generally acknowledged to be cheating.

I really was on a language kick. As you can hopefully guess, the last panel is old english—I’m assuming a line from Beowulf.

This was a funky change I did for the 100th rice cooker comic—leaving the little guy out for a day. As you can probably guess from this, I’m originally from Idaho. I remember getting psyched when they showed a map of the US on the news because Look! We’re famous!
Idaho is actually the Gem State. Its state bird is the mountain bluebird and its state fossil is the Hagerman Horse. See, I passed the fourth grade.

Do people still call these machinima? It is a really gross word.

I have literally zero memory of this comic. I’m tempted to mock it as sounding like something from a “100 Jokes About School!” book, but I snorted when I read it, so I guess I shouldn’t be so snotty.

I like that you can’t tell for sure if the rice cooker means that he would have guessed that coin collecting is the hobby of inbreeding or if inbreeding is the hobby of kings.
